What's new in the world of Solar Youth Stewards, partners and community?

Talents On Display!

The dedication and engagement of the interns working with us at Westville Manor and Eastview Terrace neighborhoods are special aspects of Solar Youth. They are a part of the entirety of the program and contribute greatly to its success; greeting the Stewards as they arrive, running mindfulness activities, playing games, and signing the Stewards out when someone comes to pick them up.  All throughout making connections and being positive role models.

An example of this intern engagement is Briannna, who had an idea for holding a talent show at Eastview Terrace to continue to engage the families in our program. So that is what she did! Over a two week period in November, she organized a talent show which involved creating a lineup of Stewards and their talents, developing and sending out information to families, preparing a menu of snacks, and planning the logistics of the day. On the day of the event, Brianna used her leadership skills to direct the other interns in support of setting up and executing the talent show. A number of families showed up to watch the Stewards show off skills like scary story telling, math, sandwich making, and painting. It was a fun, special day for everyone involved!  We are so proud of Brianna and the intern team.
